Daughters of the Boricua
My Rating-5/5
This book is such a beautiful amalgamation of historical fiction
and fantasy. This book documents the lives of women belonging to different
generations bounded together by a generational curse.
This book illustrates how a curse given to a family in a fit
of rage causes destruction in the lives of so many generations and how getting
rid of this curse was impossible for all of them.
This opening scene of this book is so tragic that this book
captivated me from the beginning itself. The author has done a fantastic job in
describing in detail tumultuous situations.
The writing style of the author is intriguing and engaging
and makes you feel for the characters as if you are a part of their world. The
oscillation of the story between the past and the present gives this story a
great pace.
I personally loved the character of Isabella who even after
going through many tragic situations including but not limited to domestic
violence, losing her loved ones does not leave the goodness of her heart and continues
to abide by her morals till the end of time. Looking forward to reading other
books by this author as well.
A beautiful review. Thank you so much Dakshita
