Unmasked
My Rating-5/5
This book
has been on my TBR ever since it got released a while back as True Crime genre is a genre that deeply interests me.
In this book, the author has documented
his life as a crime investigator over a period of forty years. Unlike various
crime shows, in which the personal aspect of a person's life is excluded, this
book in this regard has done a fantastic job by showing the reader the impact
that working in such a harrowing profession has on the mentality of the person
as well as his personal life.
Although, this
book highlights many cold cases, the cold case of the Golden State Killer is the
case that is described in much detail in this book.
Obviously, this book includes many gory and
horrifying details that sends a shiver down the reader’s spine. As a result,
all the caution must be taken before delving into this book.
This book further
testifies to the fact that the monsters are all around us as they hide in plain
sight. In many cases, even the family members of the criminal have no idea
about their ‘other side’. This is particularly true in today’s day and age
where innocent children that are sent to school to study are getting involved in school shootings and killing so
many innocent people.
This book is a must read for every true
crime aficionado and those who have watched and liked the show ‘Mindhunter’ on
Netflix as this book would give you a feel similar to watching that show.
